that will be identiied as “Intel”). As more and
more developers look to increase their sales and
user base, perhaps we’ll see more M1-based
games released soon.

What’s perhaps most interesting about the new
M1 Pro and M1 Max chips is that, according to
another report, they equal or beat popular PC
gaming rigs, meaning that they’re more than
ready to support the next generation of games.
YouTuber MrMacRight, who has for a long time
focused on gaming on the Mac, has performed
a number of tests running games on the 16-inch
MacBook Pro with the M1 Max chip and 32GB of
uniied memory. His studies found that the new
machine equals or exceeds the performance of
Nvidia’s Geforce RTX 3060 graphics card, which
is a common graphics card found in mid-range
gaming machines. Speaking of his indings,
MrMacRight said: “I’m really excited about these
results. Native apple silicon games look like they
run very well, I would say there is now some
incentive for developers to bring their games
over. Games need to be optimized or at least
native. There are very few titles for now but this
will change. See Baldur’s Gate 3: it is running
incredibly well.” Keep in mind that these new
chips were designed with professionals in mind,
helping them milk every drop of power out of
tools like Photoshop and Final Cut Pro, rather
than play point-and-shoot games, but the data
still shows that Apple’s hardware is now more
than ready for a gaming arm. By the time the
rest of the range has been updated (a new 27-
inch iMac Pro and new Air, mini, and Pro are
rumored to be in development), gaming studios
might have inally cottoned on to the idea.
