Although all eyes were on the Apple Watch
Series 7 and iPhone 13 range at this year’s
California Streaming event, the unexpected
announcement of a refreshed iPad mini also got
people talking. Bringing Apple’s smallest tablet
in line with the iPad Pro and Air has helped to
give consumers more choice, whilst a refreshed
entry-level iPad remains a sensible buy.


INTRODUCING THE NEW iPAD MINI


Apple irst introduced the iPad mini nine years
ago, designed to appeal to consumers looking
for a smaller tablet that they could take with
them on the go, carry in their handbags, and
give to the kids. After ive generations, Apple
has reined the iPad mini into a powerhouse, but
it’s the all-new sixth-generation that’s getting
people talking. The new iPad mini features
a larger 8.3-inch Liquid Retina display and is
available in four gorgeous colors and inishes.
It ofers up to 80% faster performance than the
previous 2019 model. What’s more, the model
comes with USB-C charging for the irst time,
and it supports lexible mobile worklows with
5G models, supports the second-generation
Apple Pencil, and comes with new cameras that
are ideal for on-the-go photography, FaceTime
calls, and a whole host of other use cases.


Speaking of the product launch in September,
Greg Joswiak, Apple’s senior vice president
of Worldwide Marketing, said: “With its ultra-
portable design and wide range of uses from
everyday tasks to creative and enterprise
applications, there’s nothing else like iPad mini.
