inch iMac Pro, a 128-core Mac Pro, and possibly
a Mac mini Pro will enter the scene and give
professional users even more tools to play with.
The latter will ofer more interconnects and
contain an M1 Pro chip, ideal for home oices
and server farms, but it’s the Mac Pro that will
no doubt get people talking. Insiders suggest
that the new model could feature 16x CPU,
28x GPU, and 32x neural engine cores and up
to four M-series processors working together.
It’s hard to even imagine what that means for
performance, but the chances are that it’ll blow
any benchmarks out of the window and set a
new precedent for computers. It’s also hard to
imagine how much a device of that nature will
cost - we’re guessing upwards of $8,000!

Apple will also begin the second generation
of M-series devices, and the chances are
that because the MacBook Pro has just been
updated, we’ll start of with the consumer
models. The popular MacBook Air device is
widely expected to be thinner and lighter than
before with a lat-edge design, 1080p webcam,
mini-LED display, and MagSafe. It may be
available in colors similar to the iMac which
was released in 2021, boast more graphics
cores, which (on the basis of iterative A-series
chip history) may deliver a 20% performance
boost for slightly less energy. We’ll likely also see
some performance bumps to the new iMac and
perhaps the entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro
will be discontinued or renamed. Some have
suggested that Apple will drop the Air branding
and the new MacBook Air could just be called
the MacBook. What that could mean for the iPad
Air remains to be seen - perhaps Apple will unify
across the board?
