One of the reasons why Jobs was so successful
at what he did was because he reinvented
devices that were stagnant or useless. Though
not the original creator of cutting-edge tech like
a touchscreen device or a tablet, Jobs had the
ability to bring together the elements that made
such products work and ixed the most common
pain points that users hated. From the iMac back
in 1998 to the iPod in 2001 and the iPad in 2010,
Steve was able to bring the personal computer,
MP3 player, and a tablet computer into the 21st
century, reining the way they worked until he’d
managed to create products that ofered both
simplicity and beauty.

We, of course, cannot forget the iPhone. Back
in 2007, Apple transformed our lives forever,
with the iPhone combining MP3 players, GPS
navigators, cameras, and personal computers.
Steve Jobs, once again, didn’t “invent” the
smartphone - several other models were on
sale years beforehand - nor did he invent
touchscreen phones - prototypes had been
used since the early 2000s - but what he did was
bring together all of the capabilities into a single
device, putting the pieces together to create a
truly iconic piece of technology. From gesture
control and icons to cameras and apps, the
iPhone -under Steve Jobs- changed everything.

WHAT COULD HAVE BEEN

In August 2011, a decade ago, Steve Jobs
made the diicult decision to step down from
Apple, allowing Tim Cook to succeed him in
the position to become the seventh CEO of
the company. Just a few weeks later, Steve
Jobs died of respiratory arrest related to his
pancreatic neuroendocrine tumor aged 56.
