with Fadell pointing out that cars and phones
aren’t really all that diferent. “A car has batteries;
it has a computer; it has a motor, and it has a
mechanical structure. If you look at an iPhone,
it has all the same things. It even has a motor
in it,” he said. “But the hard stuf is really on
the connectivity and how cars could be self-
driving.” It’s thought that Apple will deeply
integrate the car into iOS, and it’s already
testing self-drive technology in the United
States. Earlier in 2021, several manufacturers
conirmed that they had held talks with Apple
over being the sole producer of the Apple Car,
and the most recent reports found that Apple’s
supplier Foxconn will build an EV factory in the
United States in 2022, which could mean that
the company will begin manufacturing its own
car in a couple of years’ time.
