28.10.4 User Bits
Within the time code word there is provision for the hours, minutes, seconds, frames, and
fi eld ID that we normally see and “ user bits, ” which can be set by the user for additional
identifi cation. Use of user bits varies with some organizations using them to identify
shoot dates or locations and others ignoring them completely.
