Diagraming Adjectives and Adverbs
An adjective modifies a noun or a pronoun. In a diagram write the adjective on a
slanted line beneath the noun or the pronoun it modifies. Diagram possessive
nouns and pronouns and the articles a, an,and the just as you would diagram
other kinds of adjectives.
The sturdy house withstood the violent storm.
An adverb can modify a verb, an adjective, or another adverb. Notice how
adverbs are diagramed.
The extraordinarily loud noise woke us immediately.
