After becoming President, I made use of micro-plans facilitated by The Hunger
Project. We have identified land in the Panchayat which had been encroached
upon illegally. I have fought against various influential individuals to reclaim
the Panchayat land and have successfully re-claimed over 15 acres. This land is
now used to generate income for the Panchayat.
Since it is a Tsunami affected area, there is a need to secure the Panchayat
against possible disasters in the future. Therefore, with the support of local
organizations, I have been working to ensure disaster preparedness in the
Panchayat.
The only thing that I am not satisfied with is that I am unable to spend time
with my family and I get to see my children once in a month, as they are living
in a hostel. However, this has made me more approachable and people value
my commitment even more.
