Home Campground); and where a young California pastor
eventually finds the confidence to become the chaplain to the
U.S. Senate for fourteen years (such as Richard Halverson,
Chaplain of the Senate from 1981–1995).
During the 2008 Olympic coverage, sportscaster Jimmy
Roberts—speaking of Michael Phelps, the Olympic athlete who
had just won the most gold medals in the history of the modern
Olympics—said, “The stakes and standards for the truly great
are different.”
I consider the standard—to spend not less than one hour a
d a y talking to and listening to God—set by the 1947
Fellowship of the Burning Heart not a burden, but a path to
follow, which has been traveled by some of history’s greatest
men and women.
I’m living proof that spending one hour a day with God
certainly won’t hurt you! In fact, I have found that each hour
spent alone with God—talking and listening—becomes an
immovable building block in a solid foundation in your
personal and conversational relationship with Him.
When God Talks, Will You Be Listening?
God talks to you always. He is unchanging, unrelenting, and
indomitable in His desire to communicate with you. He is ever-
present. God talks to you...
in the morning, noon, and night
from the day you were born until the day you die
in the good times and in the bad times
whether you are listening or not.
