Let God Talk to You: When You Hear Him, You Will Never Be the Same

(nextflipdebug2) #1
Speak to Him as you leave your house each day. Say, “I know you
go before and behind me, Lord. Thank you for your protection.”

Picture Him in line with you at the post office, or seated next to
you in the car during a traffic jam, or looking over your shoulder
while writing an email to anyone!

Acknowledging God’s presence in any given moment will
heighten your attention both to His presence and any
inappropriate words, emotions, or actions. Instantly, you’ll be
inspired to reach for higher standards; you’ll want to make Him
proud of you.

Let God Talk to You

Acknowledge God’s Presence
God wants to be with you. Describe the last time you felt
God’s presence. Were you inside a building or outside
enjoying nature? Was someone talking to you when a thought
popped into your head or were you alone? Share the
experience as if you were writing to a dear, but long-distance
friend. Tell your friend what it felt like to be with God. Or draw a
picture or create a painting that shows what this experience
would be like. (If you’ve never felt God’s presence, express
how you would feel right now if God walked into the room.
What would you say and/or do?)

Dallas Willard, in Hearing God, writes, “God wants to be
wanted, to be wanted enough that we are ready, predisposed
to find him present with us.” 4
