When you acknowledge His constant companionship,
loneliness cannot consume you, fear cannot overtake you, and
worry cannot overwhelm you.
Get “In Tune” With God
For a variety of reasons, Rosalind Rinker is one of my spiritual
mentors. Decades apart, she and I have written books on a
similar subject: prayer. Because we shared a similar, simple
method for making a difficult spiritual discipline so tangible, it
made me both her fan and student! She taught others to
converse out loud with God; I take a different approach and
teach people to record their two-way conversations with God
in writing.
We both agree—prayer is not simply talking to God, nor is it
only listening to God. It is a divinely human conversation that
connects us emotionally, spiritually, and physically with the
invisible God.
Rinker’s following timeless teaching helps you get “in tune”
with God.
Begin by becoming aware of Him right where you are.
Then take turns talking with Him about one subject at a time. Focus
on a specific issue or concern and talk with God about it until you
feel the discussion comes to a conclusion.
Don’t interrupt. Let God talk first while you listen.
Then talk to Him, sharing your thoughts and feelings; picture Him
listening to you. 5
“God Talks” are not monologues but dialogues.
