You can quickly get “in tune” with God by engaging in a
conversational pattern with Him—both talking and listening.
To know Him better, to grow in intimacy with God, it is
essential to exchange ideas, share aspirations, and discuss
important decisions, just as you would converse with anyone.
King David learned, just as you and I can, that he didn’t
even need to speak a word and God already knew what he was
going to say. They were deeply “in tune” with each other.


As often as possible, make David’s words your own:

You know what I am going to say
even before I say it, Lord.
You go before me and follow me.
You place your hand of blessing on my head.
Such knowledge is too wonderful for me,
too great for me to understand!

Commit to God’s Sovereignty


David was convinced that no amount of darkness or trouble
could keep him from hearing God’s voice. Over and over, this
provided comfort to David, increasing His trust in God. He
wrote,
