Make sure you leave room under each name for additional
needs that come up. Every month or every quarter, refresh your
Request list by updating prayers that have been answered,
adding new names (such as friends of your children), and any
other person or concern that is important to you.

Write a thank-you note to God each day, expressing your
gratitude to Him for what He has done for you.
This section of your “God Talks” should be exciting. It is the
time and place to reflect on how often, how specifically, and
how intimately God has answered your prayers—and to thank
Him for doing so. It can be as brief as one or two sentences or
as long as one or two paragraphs. But expect that on those
days when a long-awaited prayer request has been answered,
you’ll gush endlessly with “woo-hoos!” and “wows!”
Make it a practice, day after day—even, and especially, on
days when you are hurting—to thank God for what He is doing
(and has done) in your life. If you thank God on both high and
low days, I’m confident that identifying specific answers to
your prayer requests will become one of the most enjoyable
aspects of your two-way conversations with God! Among its
many benefits, not only will your love toward God grow, but
you’ll become a more appreciative and less selfish person.
