making his appeal through us. We speak for Christ when we plead,
“Come back to God!”

God desires YOU to be a messenger of His Word and love to
others. He wants you to be an ambassador through whom He
can talk and make himself known to those around you.


Devotional writer Oswald Chambers challenges me to see
myself as God’s messenger, writing, “God has moved you into
His purpose through the Holy Spirit. He is using you now for
His purposes throughout the world as He used His Son for the
purpose of our salvation.” 9


Let God’s Messengers Speak to You


One of the most powerful and immediate ways God will speak
to you is through your pastor. The teaching and preaching of
God’s Word in your life should be considered as important and
integral to your life as daily bread.


Invest in the preaching of God’s Word by taking notes
during each sermon. Bring a notebook, pen, and Bible to
church. Later in the week, review the verses that were used
during the message. Buy or borrow a book by an author your
pastor quoted during the sermon and learn more about that
person—their background, convictions, and theology. Each
week, come prepared to hear God speak to you through
whoever the messenger is on the platform.


Read, read, read as many spiritual growth books as you can
each year—one a month or one a week. Read classic books on
faith—by authors from centuries past, such as William
Wilberforce, John Owen, or Charles Spurgeon. Read books on
