Let God Talk to You: When You Hear Him, You Will Never Be the Same

I do! She even crisscrossed the stage umpteen times “in step”
with me!
I’m convinced that God reached out to me, enveloping me
and calming me down through a strong African woman—in a
way that I was unaccustomed to and previously too prideful to
allow. But since that experience, even in the middle of a
reserved or conservative crowd of students or adults, I’ll
fearlessly embrace someone who is completely out-of-control
or overwhelmed by their fears with the same unusual full-body
hug and powerful out-loud prayers. And their response is
always similar to mine—a peace prevails that indicates to both
of us that God is present, powerful, and in control.


I encourage you to let God talk to you in unorthodox,
supernatural, out-of-the-box kinds of ways!


Whenever there is a possibility that God is


talking to you through dreams and visions,


unusual circumstances, or acts of nature...


First, test the instruction by how it aligns with the written
Word of God. If it does not agree clearly with biblical
principles, let it go (2 Timothy 3:16–17). (In general, it is
difficult for the average person to discern between a spiritual
dream or vision and a powerful subconscious desire. For most
of us, dreams or visions from God will be rare. And yet, on
occasion, God will use a supernatural experience such as a
dream to direct our steps, answer a lingering question, or
confirm a decision. I’ve known it to happen—but it has been
