Mohammed's Koran: Why Muslims Kill For Islam

(Dana P.) #1

  1. Koran 9:111. See also Koran 8:15 and 8:16, where it is stated than any
believer who runs from a battle with an unbeliever is going to Hell. Koran
57:19 says that those who are in Paradise are the martyred believers; the
disbelievers are burning in Hell. Koran 47:4, which is explicitly about
beheading unbelievers in war with Muslims, states: “those who are slain
in the way of Allah, He rendereth not their actions vain”. We see here that
“the way of Allah” is connected to jihad, and that those jihadis who are
martyred are rewarded for their death. If you doubt our interpretation,
here is what Professor Rudolph Peters has to say: “The most important
function of the doctrine of jihad is that it mobilizes and motivates
Muslims to take part in wars against unbelievers, as it is considered to be
the fulfillment of a religious duty. This motivation is strongly fed by the
idea that those who are killed on the battlefield, called martyrs [...] will go
directly to Paradise”. Rudolph Peters, Jihad in Classical and Modern
Islam, Princeton, 1996 (from Andrew Bostom (ed.) The Legacy of Jihad:
Islamic Holy War and the Fate of Non-Muslims, New York, 2005,
p.323). Peters was Professor at the University of Amsterdam and director
of the Netherlands Institute in Cairo. ↵
