- We can find only one instance of Irving speaking at a British university:
“Over the objections of British politicians, Holocaust survivors, anti-
fascist groups and students, Oxford University’s Oxford Union debating
society hosted Irving during a forum on free speech on November 26,
2007.... Dr. Julian Lewis, a senior Conservative Party member of
Britain’s Parliament, resigned from the Oxford Union in protest, and
Defense Secretary Des Browne withdrew from an Oxford Union
speaking engagement.” http://archive.adl.org/learn/ext_us/irving.html?

Moreover, it appears that on this one occasion there was widespread
disruption by Leftists trying to stop Irving from speaking at this event: “A
debate on free speech at the Oxford Union descended into chaos last night
after scores of demonstrators broke through a security cordon and staged
a sit-down protest in the union’s famous chamber. Scuffles broke out in
the hall as the demonstrators - there to voice their opposition to the
presence of discredited historian David Irving ... clashed with organisers
and security guards.” “Irving and Griffin spark fury at Oxford Union

This account thus completely undermines Cameron’s pretence that
controversial figures like Irving are freely invited to these universities and
that on these occasions he gets to put his case for revising the history of
the Holocaust, when this is untrue. In this one instance where Irving was
allowed to speak it was specifically in the context of a debate about
freedom of speech, and even then MPs would not speak if Irving was
allowed to speak. When it comes to his views on the Holocaust, Irving is
not permitted to speak. The British Prime Minister once again purports
that black is white. If David Irving converted to Islam he would face
almost certainly no trouble in getting into universities to speak. ↵
