as during those wars the French government saw no need to
re-create this militia. Immediately after the Muslim terrorist
attacks in Paris (November 2015), a number of the
mainstream French newspapers had headlines which said
that France was at war (a few hours later these headlines had
disappeared). Following the attack on Brussels by Muslim
terrorists (March 2016), the Prime Minister of France said
“We are at war and have been suffering for several months
in Europe”.^116 Since we in the West cannot rely on our
leaders to give us anything like an honest assessment of the
threat that Islam poses within our societies, we need to look
elsewhere for information about the danger we are in. Our
leaders pretend that Islamʼs 1400 years as a religion of war
have nothing to do with our countries being “at war” with
jihadis.
