268 SHIPPNG AND RETURNS POLICY
It is very important to read and understand the following instructions relating to the receipt of your
Dovetail products and the handling of damages. Failure to follow these procedures may result in
Dovetail or the freight carriers not being able to replace faulty or freight damaged items.
FREIGHT ISSUES
Background
The majority of the items shipped out by Dovetail will be with “blanket wrap” carriers. This allows
Dovetail and the trucking company to inspect the merchandise prior to loading. The trucking company
is responsible, per the terms of the Bill of Lading, to deliver the merchandise in the same condition that
it was picked up in. Freight contracts are between the carrier and the customer receiving the items and
thus Dovetail does not have any rights to resolve issues of damages or missing items.
Damages
In order to avoid losses due to freight damages, please follow the procedure below.
1 ) Damages must be noted on the Bill of Lading at the time of delivery. Refuse the item at this point.
2 ) If you are receiving boxed items, refuse any boxes that are damaged, again noting the problem
against the item on the Bill of Lading.
3 ) If a problem occurs after the item has been received, please contact Dovetail, who will having
established the nature of the problem may authorize a repair or issue an RMA to take the piece
back.
4 ) Always contact the freight company first with any damage issues.
Missing Items
Items can only be replaced by the carrier if the following procedures are carried out.
1 ) Always check the items against the Bill of Lading as they are unloaded.
2 ) Immediately note on the Bill of Lading if an item is missing.
3 ) Contact the freight company directly to inform them of the problem.
Additional Procedures and Restrictions
1 ) NEVER SIGN A BILL OF LADING UNTIL YOU HAVE THOROUGHLY CHECKED THE SHIPMENT FOR
MISSING ITEMS.
2 ) DOVETAIL WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY RETURNED ITEMS WITHOUT AN RMA NUMBER.
3 ) ALWAYS CONTACT DOVETAIL TO GAIN AUTHORISATION PRIOR TO UNDERTAKING ANY
REPAIRS.
4 ) DOVETAIL ACCEPTS NO LIAIBILITY FOR FREIGHT COSTS INCURRED DUE TO FAULTY ITEMS
BEYOND THE ORIGINAL POINT OF DELIVERY.
QUALITY ISSUES
While Dovetail does not have a set product warranty, when reasonable we will usually attempt to
provide a satisfactory solution to most issues. Please contact us directly via phone or email. We will
need to know when the item was purchased and be provided with images of the problem. We reserve
the right to repair, replace or on occasions refund the cost of the item but not replace it. In order for
credits to be generated, you must request an RMA from Dovetail.

Dovetail Furniture specializes in furniture that combines classic designs and traditional construction
techniques. This combination results in furniture that will last and continue to look good for years to
come. Our pieces are rustic and may have minor blemishes which add to the look and character of
the piece. The patina that each piece gains over time simply enhances and adds to the uniqueness of
your furniture.
General care
Our furniture's look will be maintained if the following simple rules are followed.
1 ) Always use coasters and placemats particularly on dining tables and coffee tables, but also
including any surface where a glass could be placed.
2 ) Wipe up spills immediately.
Classic Collection
All items within our Classic Collection have polyurethane sealed finishes. This results in a durable
surface that can either be wiped with a damp cloth or cleaned with an aerosol spray.
Other Collections
Designed to have a very natural look, these pieces are often made from reclaimed materials using a
very simple sanded finish with either little or no wax or sealer. It is essential to use coasters and
placemats on these pieces. Occasional wiping with a soft cotton cloth will maintain the unique
character of your furniture.
