Israel. Referring to Abraham, the
Koran says:
‘‘And We bestowed on him Isaac and
Jacob, and We established the
prophethood and the Scripture among
his seed, and We gave him his reward in
the world, and lo! in the Hereafter he
verily is among the righteous’’(Sura
29:27; see also Sura 45:16).
Ishmael is said to have been an Arab
prophet before Muhammad:
‘‘And make mention in the Scripture of
Ishmael. Lo! he was a keeper of his
promise, and he was a messenger (of
Allah), a prophet’’ (Sura 19:54).
Allah accepts no intercession:
‘‘Allah it is Who created the heavens
