Introduction to Image Editing
Now that you have some idea how to select specific
items in an image, why not edit something? The
rest of this chapter throws you into the most impor-
tant elements of editing: Levels, Curves, and HSB
(Hue, Saturation, and Brightness). Later chapters
will explore each editing feature in depth.
If you have an image you can experiment with,
open it in the image editor of your choice and fol-
low these steps:- Evaluate the image’s brightness and con-
trast. Is the image too light or too dark? Is
the contrast too high or too low? Our sam-
ple image here is too dark (see Figure 10.16).
Other defects may be revealed once the
image is made lighter.
