We could do without some of the
crass costumes worn by the female
fighters, but Insidia is a quick and
easy introduction to MOBA gaming
that’s simple enough to learn quickly
while still offering enough depth to
challenge you for quite a while. Like
most MOBA games, it’s free-to-play,
although you can buy a Founder’s
Pack for £13.79 that provides access
to new classes and characters as they
are released, along with a number of
new costumes, and an XP boost to
help you along. There’s a meaningless
post-apocalypse storyline, but Insidia
boils down to a straightforward
contest between two teams who need
to destroy their opponent’s base in
order to win the match. That’s routine
MOBA fare, but Insidia does throw in
a couple of interesting twists.
Each team consists of four
characters – called Champions – and,
as with most MOBA games, these are
divided into classes such as hard-
hitting fighters, nimble assassins
and support classes who provide
useful backup skills. But instead of
having four separate human players
controlling those characters you
control all four Champions yourself.
The combat is turn-based,
and in each turn you can actively
control just one Champion at a
19.
