‘Jasmine’ by Kate Parmaku
“I took this photo on my Canon EOS 1300D as part of
a challenge I set myself to take 100 portraits. Jasmine was
standing in front of a black pop-up background in her kitchen
and I used an off-camera flashgun in an umbrella softbox.
I darkened the background in Lightroom in post-production.”Digital Camera says: A striking portrait, which Jasmine
must be pretty pleased with. It’s difficult to work with dark
backdrops and dark clothing, but you’ve demonstrated an
exquisite amount of control over your lighting. Shooting over
the shoulder is also challenging, but you’ve avoided cutting
