Bane’s had an upgrade since The Dark
Knight Rises...
Ahead of his time in a way, wasn’t he?
While the funny voice might not have
caught on, we’re all now wearing masks
every time we want to pop out for a pint
of milk. Sure, you could pick up a box of
cheap disposable ones online or make
one out of an old pair of pants (washed),
but you’re a Stuff reader – wouldn’t you
rather have something that ticks a few
tech boxes?

It’s not going to turn me into a
supervillain, is it?
Only if there’s one already inside you
waiting to come out. The PuriCare Wearable
Air Purifier ($289, lg.com) does exactly
what its name suggests. Not only are there
two H13 HEPA filters inside, but it also has a
pair of three-speed fans and a respiratory
sensor that automatically adjusts them
depending on how hard you’re breathing.

Oh good, something else to forget
to charge...
Yep, although the 820mAh battery inside
will last for up to eight hours in low-power
mode, or a couple of hours on high. Surely
even the latter should be enough for your
weekly big shop? Like your true wireless
earphones, the mask comes with a case
that takes care of charging it; and, like the
LG Tone Free buds reviewed on p32, the
case also uses built-in UV-LED lights to
zap away germs. Plus it’ll ping the ThinQ
app when it’s time to replace the filters.

I’ll be invincible!
Calm down, Captain Scarlet. Masks are
there to protect other people from your
nasty germs, so you’ll still need to stick to
the rules. It’s also important to point out
that the PuriCare isn’t currently certified
to offer any more protection than a cheapo
disposable mask – but if it means you can
pretend to be a spaceman floating down
the toilet paper aisle, will you really care?

BOOKMAN ECLIPSE

Stockholm-based Bookman comes from a land where polar nights
and 24-hour blackouts are commonplace, so piercing the darkness is
crucial. Its take on urban visibility involves clever clip-on lights rather
than luminescent clothing, so whether you’re pounding the pavement
or pedalling hard, the rechargeable Eclipse LED means your chances
of being seen by passing traffic are greatly improved. Water-resistant
and good for 60 hours on a single charge, the compact clip-on shines
red or bright white and the device itself is available in five classy colours
from green to grey. If you’re looking for something suited exclusively to
cycling, try Bookman’s Curve Light or Block Light sets.

GARMIN TACX BOOST

Until you can get Lycra that’s as warm as a duvet, we don’t blame you
for staying in bed instead of getting out on your bike. Unfortunately,
Garmin has just removed one of your excuses. The Tacx Boost is an
indoor trainer that lets you log a few pre-breakfast miles without
having to brave the outdoors. It includes a forceful magnetic brake that
offers 10 levels of resistance, with a maximum of 1050 Watts, while
the closed unit keeps the noise down,so you won’t disturb those lazy
types who’ve chosen to stay in bed. Perhaps most importantly, if
you add a speed sensor it’ll work with apps such as Tacx Training,
Zwift and TrainerRoad.
