Textual' Notes'

The BISMALLAH is an abbreviation of IBISMILLAHI

RAI;Ir.lANI RAIjIM' I (In the Name of God, the Merci-

ful, the Compassionate). It is the formula

which occurs at the beginning of each Sura in

the Quran, with the exception of the IX Sura.

The BISMALLAH is also used as an ejaculation

at the beginning of any undertaking.

The meaning of this line is that God has allotted

each family its separate sources of livelihood.
