  1. Cities garrisoned were Havana, Santiago, Pinar del Rio, Carde­
    nas, Santa Clara, Camaguey, Cienfuegos, Manzanillo, Sancti Spiritus,
    Trinidad, Sagua la Grande and Matanzas. Posts in towns of more than
    5000 were located in Guines, Holgufn, Placetas, Caibarien, Baracoa,
    and Guanajay. In these cities, thirteen of the posts were of battalion
    size, representing the bulk of the ACP's strength.

    lished as Military Notes on Cuba, 1909 (Washington, 1909). This War
    Department publication omits all of Furlong's analysis of guerrilla war­
    fare and Cuban political behavior. His original manuscript is in AWC
    Doc. File 4352, RG 165. Another book put together by the MID, ACP,
    was Road Notes, Cuba... 1909 (Washington, 1909).
