double-click your Windows11virtual

machineonthe Homescreen or right-click

it andchoosePower On^1 .The Windows11setup

screen should nowloadin avirtual-machine

window.Specifyyourpreferred languageand

keyboard layout,click Next andchoosethe versionof

Windows11you want to install. Click‘Next’again

andfollowthe instructionsto installandrun

Windows11inyourvirtual machine^2 .You’llneed

to restartittocompletethe installation.Press

Ctrl+Alt+Enter to viewit in full-screenmodeand

Ctrl+Alt to switch backtoyourstandardoperating

system.To exit,simplyclosethewindowandchoose

PowerOff.

Nowcomesthetrickypart,
becausealthoughyourWindows
11 ISOfilewillbypassTPM
checks,it’ssettouseUEFIratherthan
BIOS,whichwon’tworkinthefree
versionofVMwarePlayer.Tobeatthis
restriction,closetheprogram,browseto
thefoldercontainingthevirtualmachine
youspecifiedinStep4andfindtheVMX
file–thiswillhaveaniconofoverlapping
squares^1 andsay ‘VMwarevirtual machine
configuration’ in theTypecolumn.Right-
clickit, choose‘Open with’, then‘More
apps’, selectNotepad^2 andclick OK.
Findthelinebeginning ‘firmware=’and
change "efi"to"bios"^3 .Savethe file^4
andcloseNotepad.

Yo u’ll nowbepromptedtospecify themaximum disk

size of thevirtual machine^1 ,but youcan leavethisat

thedefault of 60GB.Select‘Store virtualdiskasasingle

file’^2 ,thenclick Next again. VMware Player will listthe default

settings foryourvirtual machine. BecauseWindows 11requires

at least4GB ofmemory,you mayneedto clickthe Customize

Hardware button^3 anduse theslidertoallocatemore memory

to your virtualmachine. Don’tset this toohighor you’ll receive

an errormessage saying your systemdoesn’thaveenough

availableRAM.Click ‘Close’toconfirm,thenclick Finish^4 to

create your virtualmachine.

When theNewVirtualMachine Wizard opens, select
‘Installer disc imagefile(iso)’^1 andclick theBrowse
button. Locate theISOfilecreatedinStep2andclick
Open.Don’t worryif VMware says it can’t detect which
operatingsystemisinthe discimage.Click ‘Next’ andchoose
MicrosoftWindowsasthe ‘Guest operatingsystem’^2 and
‘Windows10 andlaterx64’asthe Ve rsion^3 –strangely,the
programdoesn’t yetlista‘Windows11’option,but itwill still
recognisethe ISO. Click‘Next’tocontinue, give your virtual
machineasuitable name,suchas‘Windows11virtual’then
browse to thefolderwhere youwanttocreateitandclick Next.
