Call us an apple-lovin’ family: Each year we take a trip to an orchard
together to pick bunches of them. Yes, I’ve been known to sample the fruit
right there, and if there’s a chance for a silly photo op, we’re in!
THE EASY TRICK TO DIVERT EMOTIONAL
EATING
Many of your best tactics to avoid binges tied to anxiety, depression,
fatigue, or stress are the ones you saw in chapter 3, where I discussed
removing bad food from your environment. I also find that if you can
remove yourself from a situation momentarily—by taking a brisk walk or
doing a set of squats or a one-minute stretch, for example—the immediate
craving will subside enough to allow your brain to make a good decision,
rather than a purely reactive one. The physical task will help your body
overpower the emotional response.
