The big battle is won by addressing the double Q—quality and quantity.


If you follow my FIXES, you’ll have the blueprint for what to eat, and those
guidelines will help you naturally control your hunger, because you’ll be eating
satiating nutrients. But once you graduate from the 21-Day Plan, it’s up to you to
right-size portions. You can gain weight eating all healthy foods if you eat too
much of them.
So there are two things to consider when following FIXES guidelines: 1)
Know that choosing good foods will help regulate your diet. For example, fibre,
fat, and protein all help stabilize your hunger so you’re less likely to overeat. 2)
None of that gives you licence to go berserk. Amounts do matter, so you should
be aware of moderate portion sizes and finding the sweet spot between not
eating enough and eating too much. My 21-Day Plan teaches lessons in quality
and quantity—and will serve as a model for generous and satisfying portion
sizes as you move to day twenty-two and beyond.
