YES TO YOGHURT

Yoghurt—milk fermented with bacteria—can help your digestive health
because its beneficial bacteria can ease some symptoms associated with a
cranky bowel. I like old-world yoghurt—Greek yoghurt—because it is
strained to remove the whey, which makes it thicker and protein-rich. But
don’t just eat it because it’ll help your gut. Yoghurt helps improve blood
pressure because of its potassium content (there’s more in a tub of yoghurt
than in a banana). It strengthens bones with its calcium; some yoghurts are
also fortified with vitamin D, which helps you absorb the calcium. And it
lowers your risk of developing type 2 diabetes. According to a Harvard
University study, one serving of yoghurt a day lowered the chance of
getting the disease by 18 percent, possibly because its probiotics quiet
inflammation and balance blood sugar levels. A super way to eat yoghurt:
Add chia seeds. Chia absorbs twenty-seven times its weight in water,
forming a thick gel that slows digestion and can help regulate blood sugar.
