HOW DO YOU top
scoring the game-
tying goal with 37 seconds
left in regulation and the
winner in overtime against

rival Canada to earn your
team a third consecutive
gold medal? If you’re
Declan Farmer, you go
for a fourth straight.

Born a bilateral
amputee (his right leg
below the knee and
his left above), the
24-year-old forward

from Tampa has played
sled hockey since age 9.
After graduating from
Princeton with a degree
in economics in 2020,
Farmer helped the U.S.
beat Canada again
in June ’21, this time
for a second straight
world championship.
A rematch in Beijing is
likely in the cards. —J.L.
