Sincere, Committed,
& Caring
After the successful
prescription transfer
fundraising campaign back
in November during the
closure of the Marshall
Kmart, Hemmingsen
Drug Store announced
that they would donate
$10 to Heritage Commons
for every new patient
transferring prescriptions
through the end of the
year, up to $5,000. After
exceeding their goal, not
only did they honor the full
amount, but they kicked in
the extra funds needed to
round up to a grand total of
$6,000 in hopes of making
an even bigger impact.
“When we came up
with this idea, we were
primarily focused on the
people who would be in
need of a new pharmacy
due to the recent pharmacy
closure in town,” said Chris
Munden, Hemmingsen
owner and pharmacist.
“What we didn’t expect was
the number of customers
from other pharmacies
throughout Calhoun County
that decided that now was
the time to move to our
locally owned community
pharmacy.”
Hemmingsen is
dedicated to offering
services that extend beyond
just basic prescriptions.
With customer benefits like

Hemmingsen Drug Store donates $6,
to Heritage Commons Senior Center
within a 15-mile radius
and SimPill packaging
to help with medication
management, not to mention
the exceptional customer
service that they’re known
for, it’s easy to see why
so many individuals have
chosen to trust Hemmingsen
with their prescriptions over
a large retail chain.
“I think that the
number of prescription
transfers and this substantial
donation represents the
fact that customers trust
and appreciate the service
they get at Hemmingsen,”
said Carl Gibson, Heritage
Commons Grow With Us
Committee chair. “It was
a given that they would be
one of Heritage Commons’
strongest donors because
they, themselves, are a
quality business.”
The new Heritage
Commons Senior Center
is currently in the process
of being built. With over
10,000 square feet to
renovate, Gibson said that
this donation will help
them complete the major
improvements that have
yet to be made. With the
goal of helping seniors
feel young despite aging,
Heritage Commons
will offer activities like
fitness, cooking, games,
and a variety of other
activities that emphasize
the importance of physical,
mental and emotional health
of the seniors living in
Calhoun County.

explains that the tradition
of giving back to the
community started with the
original owners and has
been carried on ever since.
“Small business owners
have a vested interest in their
communities,” Munden
said. “We live here, we work
here, our kids go to school
here, and we want to support
projects that make Marshall
and the surrounding area
great. Our heart is to give
back to the community that
supports our pharmacy. We
are overwhelmed by the
community support and
thankful to be able to make
this donation to Heritage
Commons.”
