friends had mentioned it. You had to have an email address
from your college to even set up an account. This all
changed in September of 2006, when Mark Zuckerberg
and the other owners of the site opened it up to the public.
It didn't catch on as a way to communicate and connect
with others until well into 2007.
Twitter was not created until late in 2006, and I didn't
start an account until sometime in 2007. I can remember it
being very quiet there during that first year, when we were
all still figuring out what to say when we tweeted.
LinkedIn was always considered to be more for the
corporate world, but once Facebook caught on they
changed their policies and became much more open and
accepting of members from all walks of life.
I like what LinkedIn has done with their groups and their
question and answer features. This gives us all the
opportunity to share our knowledge and connect with
others we may not have met otherwise.
Social media is an excellent platform for recommending
affiliate products and services. Remember that everything
revolves around the relationships you build and nurture, so
get the conversation going and then let people know what
you recommend to answer their questions and solve their
problems. You take on the role of the reporter here, letting
others know what you have experienced. This works in any
niche, so give it a try and see what happens.
