Case Study #4 – Dr. Jeanette Cates
I had heard of Jeanette during my first year online, from
someone who was obviously quite jealous of her talents
and ability. He had told me that she was the 'Technology
Tamer', and she showed other people how to learn enough
technology to do what they needed to do online. He had
said this as though it were a negative thing, but I loved the
idea of finally knowing someone who had tamed the
technology that held so many of us back. That was exactly
what I wanted to do, so I looked her up online.
Sure enough, the first site I looked at showed a picture of
Jeanette on safari, peering out from behind the brush and
wearing a safari hat. I loved it!
Two years later, in 2008, I was in Atlanta for Armand
Morin's Big Seminar. At the end of that weekend I joined
his AM2 program (the one I have mentioned earlier in this
section) and was invited to stay the following day to meet
the other members and to find out more of what this
program was all about.
When I arrived the next morning there was a lady sitting at
a computer in the front of the room. When she finally
turned around I saw that it was someone who looked a lot
like the lady with the safari hat. I got up and approached
the front and saw that is was Jeanette.
