to grow, and soon others will look to you for
recommendations on what will help them to achieve their
goals.
I am reminded of the famous quote from Zig Ziglar:
“You will get all you want in life, if you just
help enough other people get what they want.”
Another reason we only want to recommend what we use
and love is that this is how it is done in the offline world.
Think about this scenario: You are walking your dog down
the street in your neighborhood and you run into your
neighbors, Mike and Ann. They tell you they are thinking
about going out to dinner and ask you if you can
recommend a good place to get some pizza. The
conversation goes like this:
Mike: Hey there, Connie. Ann and I are thinking about
taking the kids out for pizza tonight. Can you recommend
a place we should try?
Connie: Sure. There’s a place downtown, at third and
Main Street.
Mike: Is there parking in the back, or do we need to find
parking on the street?
Connie: I’m not sure.
Ann: Where should we sit? I’d love to look out the see the
lights. Do they have tables with a view?
