The First Moon

Here is the first moon of Summer,
my love, and now that I’ve returned
I’ve come to make good on my vow of old:
Yours is the first moon of Summer!
Down a backwoods road, like a newcomer
I cry out, to anyone who would be told:
My love’s denied me, left me spurned.
