Dialect Poetry of Southern Italy (Italian Poetry in Translation Book 2)

(Marcin) #1
(cont.d)

It sings for you
who’re still awake, my love,
and hear
the serenade
inside
the brightened room.
Don’t fall asleep, my darling,
stay awake till tomorrow,
and think of me who keep
thinking far away,
as I watch
the white moon
its light touch
that seems to return
with a smile
the kiss that I give you.
