Dialect Poetry of Southern Italy (Italian Poetry in Translation Book 2)

Return

The houses look at me with open eyes:
─ Who is he?
Where does he come from? ─
My house
keeps its eyes closed and it appears dead.
River, you alone have the same voice,
you alone have recognized me, river.
Who I am, where I come from
and where I wandered lost,
tell it to the sea.
