For Granatiero, unlike Angiuli, there has

been a radical conversion to dialect from the

initial Italian writings. The main trait of the

poet from Mattinata (Foggia) consists, in

fact, in a more piercing need to return to his

mother tongue, to delve deeply into the

humus that nourished his childhood and his

culture. This is also due, perhaps, to the fact

that the author emigrated to Turin and feels

the sorrow for his lost land more keenly. His

becomes therefore a search for harmony, for

psychological and existential well-being, in

order to resist the violence of a levelling

reality.
