Note on the Texts 401On Quantitative Metre. Sri Aurobindo wrote this essay for inclusion
in hisCollected Poems and Plays, which was brought out in 1942
by the Sri Aurobindo Ashram and printed at the Government Central
Press, Hyderabad. A separate booklet was also printed at that time
from the same setting of type.On Quantitative Metreincluded as
examples fifteen poems written in quantitative metres. The fifteenth
consisted of the first 371 lines ofIliondivided into five sections with
headings. These poems are reproduced here with the notes on metre Sri
Aurobindo provided for them. InCollected Poems, volume 2 of THE
COMPLETEWORKS OFSRIAUROBINDO, they appear without notes.
