Lookatthestarsonthischartofthenorthernhemis-
phere representingthoseseenbyArgelanderandhis
assistantsduringtheirperseveringsurveyofthenorth-
emheavenswitha2^-inchtelescope. There areno
lessthan 324,198starsmarkedonthatchart! They
liealmostascrowdedtogetherasthesandsuponthe
seashore;andinparts,especiallyalongtheMilkyWay,
thecrowdingis frequentlysogreatastomakeitim-
possibletodistinguishstarfromstar! Thatchartis
a photograph made by Proctor from Argelander's
maps. Turningthelightofthelantern fulluponit,
youmayobservethatsomehandhaswrittenwithpen
andinkbelowitsmarvelous pictureofthestar-filled
hemispherethesublimeyetsimpleandtouchingwords
of Jesus Christ, *In My Father's house are many
mansions.'
