Ihavenodesiretobelittlescience. Itis indispen-
sable. Ithas anoble work. It"opens to themind
vastfieldsofthoughtandinformation." Sciencehas
itsownpeculiarprovince. Ithasaworktoperform
afteritsownpeculiarmethodstoitsownspecialends.
TheWordofGodwasnevermeanttosupplantit,nor
tointerferewithit. But itwasmeanttobean aid;
andbysuggestionsandplaindeclarations,itisanall-
efficient aid. Withoutit, weare left,wholly toour
ownspeculationsandourownblindguesses;byit,we
areledtotaketherightwayandtomoveeveronin
theinvestigationoftruth.
GodisasmuchtheAuthorofscienceasHeisthe
AuthoroftheBible. True, men hate Hisway, and
longtodisproveHisstatements;buttheirinvestiga-
tionsalwaysshowthatGodistrue. Letusnotaddto
Hiswords,lestHereproveus,andwebefoundliars.
(Prov.30:6.) Hehascertainlyreprovedmeninthis
matterof themotion ofthestars. Itis always un-
safetodispute HisWord. Let us ratherbelieveit,
foritwillvitalizeourscience,andsaveoursouls.
