interesting and important. To an ordinary eyesix
starsareeasilyvisiblein it. Eyes alittlebettersee
easily five more. A very small telescope (a mere
operaglass)increasesthenumbertonearlyahundred;
andwith large instruments morethan fourhundred
arecatalogued inthegroup. Afewofthestarsap-
parentlyin theclusterarereally onlyaccidentallyon
thesamelineofvision,andaredistinguishedbyproper
motionsdifferentfromthoseoftherestofthegroup

butthegreatmajorityhavepropermotionsnearlythe
sameinamount and direction; they have also iden-
tical spectra, andtherefore undoubtedly constitute a
singlesystem."
Having thus seen how wonderfully modern facts
agree withthisscripture,agesold, wehave astrong
evidencethat the scripture was really inspired by a
knowledge greaterthanthatcommontohumanity at
thetimeitwaswritten.
Bythis scripture,the mind of manis challenged.
Attentioniscalledtotwogreatfamiliesofstarsmov-
ingmajesticallyintheheavens. Theconstellationof
the Pleiadesis pointedout, and the wonderful fact
thatthestarsmakingupthisconstellation—immense,
brilliantsuns, everyoneofthem—areboundbythe
greatbandinstitutedbytheCreator. Wehaveatonce
beforeusamostextraordinarywork. Allthesesuns,
some ofthem greaterthanour own, have beenput
underaninfluence—asweetinfluence, ifyouwill—
thatextends fromo 2 to theother, and holdsthem
