Sincemomentum,aswe have said,ismeasuredby
velocitymultipliedbytheweightofthemovingbody,
themomentum ofArcturus mustbe 25,700times as
greatasthemomentumofthesun, foritisonethou-
sandtimesaslarge,andmoves25.7timesas swiftly.
Ah,isitstrange,then,thatinspirationselectedthis
particular star? Is itstrange, then,that God chal-
lengesmenandpointsoutman'slittlenessascompared
with thepowerofthe Creator? Inthis instanceof
Arcturus,what alesson thereis forus—thelesson,
firstofall,thatGod'sWordcontainsinfallibleknowl-
edge,factsabovethescienceofthetimesinwhichit
waswritten,factsbeyondthekenofunassistedmor-
tals. ThatoneverseinJobstandslikeabeaconona
mountain top,and points men to the fact ofits in-
spiration.
Andwemustlearnthelesson, too,oftheunmeas-
uredmightofHimwhocanguide,yea,whocangive
impulse ofmovementto, such astar, andwiththat
star,allthatbelonginitstrain.
Wecannotaccountforthestupendousmovementof
thisapparentlyrunawaystarbythelawsof gravita-
tion. Astronomershavestudiedthemattercarefully,
andhavegivenitup asahopelesstask. Theattrac-
tivepowerofeverystarandworldandsatelliteinthe
universeneithercouldstartArcturusintosuchahead-
longpace,norstayitoneiotainitsmagnificentsweep
throughthelimitlessboundsofspace.
