Thus we find that science has nothingdefiniteto
offer. Wemustgoelsewhereifwe wouldknowthe
truthofthesethings. Areallworldslimitedintheir
periodofexistence? Has Godbuilt theuniverseto
lastbutaseason? DidHeplacethesunsuponsucha
basis of existence that they must ultimately become
exhausted? Istheworld one daytobecomeasbar-
renasthemoonnowseemstobe? Isthesuntobe-
comeasdeadasacinderandasdarkastheshadows
of forgetfulness? Science, so-called, says Yes; the
WordofGodsaysNo.
Godgavethesuntoruletheday,andthemoonto
rulethenight. (Gen. i:i6.) Hesays: ''Ifye can
breakMy covenantoftheday, andMy covenantof
thenight, andthatthereshouldnotbedayandnight
intheirseason;thenmayalsoMycovenantbebroken
withDavidMyservant,thatheshouldnothaveason
toreignuponhisthrone." Jer. 33 :20,21. Thiscove-
nantofdayandnightinvolvesthesunandthemoon
;
andthecovenantwithDavidisthepromiseofChrist.
In another place,God speaks of these samethings:
"MycovenantwillInotbreak,noralterthethingthat
isgone outofMy lips. Oncehave Isworn by My
holinessthatIwillnotlieuntoDavid. Hisseedshall
endureforever,andhisthroneasthesunbeforeMe.
Itshallbeestablishedforeverasthemoon,andasa
faithfulwitnessinheaven." Ps. 89 :34-37.
This is a promise of theeternal reign of Christ,
theSeedofDavid;andGodmakesthatreigncoexist-
entwiththesunandthemoon. Christ'sthrone isto
be"afaithfulwitnessinheaven."
