Whatamarvelousmessageisthiswhichlightbrings
tous in itsanalysis! The lightfrom glowing sub-
stancesis innotwo casesalike. Burningirongives
outhundredsofbands inthe spectrum,sodiumtwo,
andotherelementsbutone. Wedonotexpecttofind
thespectraoftwoelementstobethesame,anymore
than weexpecttofind photographsoftwodifferent
personstolookexactlyalike. TheCreatorgavelight
this marvelous message. He endowed it with the
powerofrevealingthustheabsolutecharacterofthe
thing emittingthelight. And lightwas soendowed
evidently for this verypurpose,that itmight bring
us wordof conditions in far-away worlds. Andas
notwoelements givethesamekindoflight,andas
probablynotwostarshavepreciselythesameelements
inthe same proportion, the light coming from the
starscannotbe inanytwocases preciselythe same.
Thestarsdifferintheirconstituent elements. Every
raythey flash forthbearsin its verybeingsigns of
whattheyare. "HencetheeyeofOmniscience,seeing
arayoflightanywhereintheuniverse,thoughgone
fromitssourceathousandyears,wouldbeabletotell
fromwhatorbitoriginallycame."
As we are known byour doing, sothe stars are
knownbytheirlight. TheeyeofAll-wisdomviews
a rayoflight,andknows,asyou knowthewordsof
this book, the marvelous message it carries. "One
star differeth from another star." He whocreated
them,seestheirmessageinthelighttheyemit. And
Hetellsusto see thatwhichmay be seen;namely,
that"one stardiffereth from anotherstaringlory,"
