To survey them adequately, demands capacity most
mightyandHvesimmortal,withmeansofreachingand
observing unhampered His ever expandingdomains.
Butrememberthatevennowwehavein theBible
allthegreatprinciples includedinthese things. In
the Bible,theyhave beencommitted toman. True,
theyarelockedinthestorehouse;butGodhasgiven
usthekey. Theyarehidden;butHehastoldusto
seek,andweshallfind. Thoughthe dooris closed,
itwillbeopenedtousifweknock.
Forthis,thestudyofastronomyandthestudyof
theBiblearecombined. Wementionastronomyfirst,
not becauseitis firstinimportance,butbecause we
giveitherethemostattention. Thisbookisnotpri-
marilyastudyoftheBible,butastudyofastronomy.
Yetthroughout,weseektheaidofthesublimewords
ofSacredWrit. Andwefindabetterunderstanding
oftheBiblethroughthelightthatsciencegives.
May all our science study be after this manner!
LetussearchbothnatureandtheWordasforhidden
treasure. GodHimselfwillbetheTeacher;HisWord
willbeourtextbook;Hisworks,ourfieldofobserva-
tion;Hiseverlastinghabitations,ourschoolroom;and
eternity,thetermofourpupilage.
Thus our liveswill growricher and happier, our
minds more vigorous andcomprehending, while our
vision''foreverwidenswiththeprocessofthesuns."
