peartobesoshortthatitcouldnotbemeasuredwith
the micrometer, an instrument able to measure the
diameterofafinehair.

uteswide. Howfinditswidthinmiles? Thisisim-
possible by measuring any shining portion of the
nebula;sowemustmeasurenear-by stars, andthen
assume that theadjacent nebulais attheir distance
