ScienceandtheBible
WHEN,upona cloudless,moonless night,we
lookaboveusintotheoverarchingheavens,
we are charmed by the spectacle of many
pointsoflight,scintillatingandquiveringinthedeeps
ofthesky.
Wesaytoourselves:Cananyonereallytellusaught
abouttheseandhowtheycamethere? Whatistheir
purpose andwhat theirdestiny? Didthey atsome
timecomeintobeing,ordidtheyalwaysexist? And
whatshallbetheirend,ifanyendforthemtherebe?
Itistruethatsciencealonecanpartlyanswersome
of these questions; yetsome ofthe more important
shecannotansweratall. Butaswedelveintothese
problemsofastronomy,wediscoverthattheBiblesays
somethingdecisiveaboutthem. Wefind itspeaking
with authority in the realm of science. Thus we
soon learn that both science and the Bible have
somethingtosay w4threferencetotheanswers;and
aswecarefullygotobothforknowledge,webecome
consistentinour study ofastronomy andthe Bible.
