tainstheirexistence.
Oragain,thescientistassertsthatgravitationholds
alltheheavenlybodiesinplace. AndtheBibleshows
thatinthis,thescientisthasnotthoughtdeepenough.
Weask.Whatisgravitation? Thescientistanswers,
Gravitation is theattractionbetweentheparticlesof
matter; itisthebondof relationshipbywhich they
areheldtogether. Butwepressthequestion.What
isthisattraction? Wefindthathisanswerismerely
a description ofthething,andreallyno explanation
of it at all. "The attraction between particles of
matter"isbutanothernameforgravitation. Whatis
gravitation—whatisthisattraction? Howand why
doesitexist? Inshort,whatcausesthepullbetween
theparticles?
SirIsaacNewtondemonstratedtheexistenceofthe
bond;yethedidnotexplainitsmystery,butconfessed
tothatmystery. Hesaidthatforathinglikegravi-
tation to existwas apparently unreasonable. "How
cananythingbewhereitisnot?" Howcanoneworld
pullanotherworldthatismillionsofmilesawayfrom
it? Howcanitmaintainaninfluencewhereitisnot?
Science alonehasnoanswer,andshehasnosug-
gestionofananswer. Onapurelymaterialbasis,no
adequate answer can ever be proposed. Therefore
sciencedoesnotpretendtoanswer, andsheacknowl-
edgesthatshedoesnot.
